Kevin Pettit
Kevin was born and raised in Boulder, CO and obtained an undergraduate degree from Carleton College in Minnesota. After attaining a Ph.D. in physics from the University of Illinois, he worked for IBM for one year, and then was hired as a tenure track professor of physics at Carleton. In 1998, his second-year as a professor, he was in a severe automobile accident and suffered a massive Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). He survived the injury, and then for the next 6 months, he was treated in the ICU and as an in-patient. For a few years, Kevin taught physics, but Carleton let him go. Kevin returned to his hometown of Boulder. He felt he should do something where his experience of having disabilities would aid, not hinder him in contributing to others. To do this, he altered his focus and attended the Iliff School of Theology. Here he was granted a Masters of Arts in Specialized Ministry. This led to the founding of Faith4All. as a non-profit, 501(c)(3) interfaith organization. It was founded to help all faith communities to better invite, embrace, include, and empower people living with disabilities. Especially to give these people more active lives of faith in their chosen community. He leads this organization and works within the United Church of Christ to promote the faithful inclusion of people with disabilities into UCC churches in the Rocky Mountain Conference, and across the country.
